GRISMEDIO is a production company in Barcelona, Spain, specialising in creative documentaries and author feature films for national and international markets. The company due to its multicultural members, identifies as a bridge for collaboration and co production.

Attracted by social and gender issues, the company looks for personal approaches to complex and lesser known realities. Each project´s dimension demands a unique process of development on the basis of continuous exchange and collaboration with the authors, in depth story development and participation in development labs and pitching events.

The films of the company have co-produced been selected for festivals like Sundance, IDFA, Vision du Réel and have been awarded, and have received a nomination for the European Film Awards.

Angelo Orlando

Founder

Born in Salerno, Campania, Italy. He has been living in Barcelona for years. He is a scriptwriter, theatre author, director, cinema, theatre and television actor. As an actor he has worked with many Italian directors: Fellini (He is Nestor in his last film “The Voice of the Moon”, 1990), Nanni Loy, Marcello Aliprandi (“Soldato Ignoto”, 1995, best non-leading actor at the Gramado Festival, Brazil), Maurizio Nichetti, Mario Monicelli, Enso De Caro (“Ladri di uturo”, 1992, nomination for the Nastro d’argento, 1993, best non-starring actor) and Massimo Troisi (“Pensavo fosse amore invece era un calesse”, 1992, David di Donatello, best non-starring actor).
He debuted as a film director in 1994 with the feature film “L’anno Prossimo vado a letto alle dieci”.
In 1998 he wrote and directed his second film as a director: “Barbara”.
In 2005 he made his third feature film “Sfiorarsi”.
His fourth feature film is “Rocco tiene tu nombre”, shot in Barcelona, with his audiovisual company, Gris Medio, founded together with the photographer and director of photography Efthymia Zymvragaki. “Rocco tiene tu nombre” will have its world premiere in 2015 at the RIFF (Rome Independent Film Festival) in the international competition section.

Efthymia Zymvragaki

Founder

Efthymia Zymvragaki works as a director, writer, producer and DOP.
Efthymia got her Master’s Degree in Artistic Productions and Research at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and trained as a photographer at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya. From the University of Crete, Greece, she got a degree in Psychology.
She is an alumni of IDFAcademy 2020; Circle – Women’s Doc Accelerator 2020; Acció producció -Dones Visuals 2021; LIM Development Angels; and dok.incubator 2022.
She seeks to explore spaces of intimacy between and within people. She worked as a co-director of photography on the documentary Serás hombre by Isabel de Ocampo (2018) and was the DOP of the feature film Rocco tiene tu nombre by Angelo Orlando (2015). In 2015 she directed the documentary short “Refrán”. In 2022 she directs her first feature film “Light Falls Vertical” premiered at IDFA Envision Competition 2022 and nominated for Best First Feature.

Antonio Marenco

Assistant production manager

He is a sociologist specialising in the production of audiovisual content. His personal work is focused on human behaviour related to technological evolution: both its points of contact and its paradoxes. His obsession is to implement improvements and look for nuances in all phases of production until the works are brought to light.

Montse Portabella

Sales and distribution manager

Specialised in the acquisition and distribution of television rights. Development of documentary and fiction programmes.
She currently collaborates with a team of specialists in the development and subsequent viability of productions, both documentaries and fiction. It is currently working on 3 documentary projects and 2 fiction projects. With the participation of TVE; TV3; EITB; ERT; and with production companies such as Orreaga FIlmak, Nara Producciones, GrisMedio, and Goroka.
