DIRECTORS’ BIOGRAPHY
Gabriela Pena and Picho García are a creative duo based in Valparaíso, Chile, focused on personal cinema. In 2024, they co-directed Familia GAE, a hybrid short film that premiered at the True/False Film Festival (USA) and was selected for Camden IFF (USA), DC/DOX (USA), Family Film Project (Portugal), and the Sapporo Film Festival (Japan). The film won Best Film at the Santiago International Film Festival (Chile) and received numerous awards in the country.
In 2021, they premiered Zoila, a feature-length documentary directed by Gabriela and produced by Picho, which won Best Film in the “Gender and Generations” competition at the Buenos Aires International Documentary Film Festival (Argentina). They are currently co-directing the feature-length documentary Aquí se escucha el silencio (Here You Hear the Silence): a Chilean-Spanish co-production supported by the Sundance Institute and Chicken&Egg Films.
